Brehm's Ultra Premium Frozen Grapes and Juice
Accepting Orders Now for the 2008 Wine Grape Harvest
The best grapes make the best wine. Peter Brehm Vineyards selects grapes from premier growing areas of California, Oregon, and Washington. Peter Brehm closely monitors the ripening to ensure that grapes are harvested at the optimal time.

Like starting with fresh grapes, the red/black varieties come with the grape skins so you can decide when to remove them. These 5 gallon buckets of grapes will yield approximately 3½ gallons of wine. The white varieties have already been crushed, pressed, and allowed to settle for 24 hours before the juice is frozen and shipped. The white juices will yield approximately 5 gallons of wine.

Serious home winemakers reserve in summer for December delivery because these professional-quality grapes often sell out early.

Brehm orders are delivered frozen to ensure maximum freshness and to enable you to make wine from scratch in December. We will accept reservations up to 10 days before the order ships (anticipated to ship near the end of November), but many of the popular varieties sell out early, so please call us to reserve now, or use our online order form.

Here's the latest news, statistics, and winemaking resources from Brehm Vineyards.

Here's the full list of varieties, prices and online ordering.

Better Bottles: Special Promotion
Now Through Thursday, August 7
We are currently taking preorders for two 3-gallon specialty wine kits due to arrive in September. With glass carboy prices on the rise, this is the perfect opportunity to try Better Bottle PET carboys! With the purchase of an Okanagan Peach Icewine-Style wine kit ($117.95), you can purchase a 3 gallon Better Bottle FOR 50% OFF. If you also buy a Chocolate Raspberry Port kit ($108.95), or a second Peach Icewine-Style kit, you get the 3-gallon Better Bottle FOR FREE! This promotion is only available with pre-orders placed by August 7 (including those that have already been placed); a $50 deposit is required to reserve your kit.

Better Bottles are less expensive and much lighter than glass carboys, and they will never shatter. Unlike plastic, they are neither permeable to oxygen nor prone to scratching. Also, they have wider necks for easier access/cleaning, and the 3-gallon Better Bottles have convenient carrying handles built in! Make sure you pick up an appropriate sized stopper (#10). We recommend a superior silicone stopper, with a built-in waterless airlock. They normally sell for $7.25, but you can buy one for 50% off with the purchase of any Better Bottle at full price between now and August 31.

Glass Carboy Prices:
3 gallon: $23.95
5 gallon: $31.95
6 gallon: $38.50

Better Bottle Prices:
3 gallon: $22.50
5 gallon: $27.95
6 gallon: $28.50

New Wine Kits
We're now offering the following great new summer wine kits:

Spanish Rose
Made from a blend of red and white varietals, including the wildly popular Spanish Tempranillo, this is an exceptionally refreshing, dry, light-medium bodied wine. Don't miss out this summer! We have a few in stock right now, but these will be available only WHILE SUPPLIES LAST. They are designed to produce 6 gallons, for $113.95.

Seville Orange Sangria
This new Orchard Breezin' kit is lighter and sweeter than a typical wine, similar to Winexpert's Island Mist kits. The sweetness and refreshing fruit flavors are balanced perfectly by the bitterness of the Seville Orange. You can even add your favorite fresh fruits, or top with club soda for an extraordinary summer beverage experience. This one will be available throughout the summer, assuming we can keep it in stock! It costs only $59.99 for a 6-gallon kit.

Wine Kit Specials: Limited Time Only!
We're taking pre-orders now for two special seasonal wine kits from Winexpert: the fantastic Chocolate Raspberry Port, and the brand new Okanagan Peach Icewine Style. Both are full strength kits (no water needed!) designed to make 3 gallons of finished wine. Call either of our stores or stop by with payment information (we need a $50 deposit to secure your order) between now and Thursday, August 7 to reserve your kits. Online ordering will also be available shortly at www.keystonehomebrew.com

Chocolate Raspberry Port
Back by tremendous popular demand, the Chocolate Raspberry Port offers traditional rich Port character, supported by a racy zing of bright raspberry and deep flavors of luscious dark, bittersweet chocolate. Toasty hints of oak guide the way to a long, rich finish. The Chocolate Raspberry Port sells for $108.95.

Okanagan Peach Icewine Style
The new Okanagan Peach Icewine Style kit tantalizes with notes of honey, apricot, and spice. Featuring Vidal grapes from the Okanagan Valley, the finished wine will feature deep floral notes, stone fruit and perfect sweetness, balanced with the sun-ripened perfume of a luscious peach. The Okanagan Peach Icewine Style sells for $117.95.

Brewers Brawl Keg Only (KO) Competition Winners Announced!
On Thursday, July 17, we had the biggest crowd ever at the Montgomeryville Brewers Brawl, and a great lineup of homebrews battling for supremacy. The following brewers took top honors:

1st Place, James Powell, Belgian Strong Dark Ale
2nd Place, Wardell Massey, Belgian Tripel Raspberry
3rd Place, Kim Small, Witbier

Other winners included Steve Robson (Cherry Hefeweizen), Dan Endicott (Ordinary Bitter), Dave Grosch (Red AIPA, Alt), Jack Kapusta (American Pale), and Rob Schlank (American Wheat & Rye Beer). Congratulations to all of our winners, and thanks to everyone who helped us with the not-so-arduous task of judging. Winning beers were served at the Brew at the Zoo on July 26.

Hop Policy
It pains us to refuse to sell customers as much hops as they want. But with this year's hop shortage (see Washington Post article) we need to do something to keep as many of our customers happy as possible.

In order to ensure that we will be able to provide hops to our brewing customers now and throughout the coming year, we will be limiting the sale of hops to each customer based on the amount of grains and/or malt extract that is purchased at the same time. The following amounts represent the maximum hops that can be purchased until further notice:

  • 1 oz of hops per pound of malt extract (syrup or dry)
  • 1 oz of hops for every 2 pounds of grains

These amounts will be reviewed on a regular basis to determine whether our policy needs to be amended or is no longer needed. Thank you for your understanding as we try to do what best for all of our homebrewing customers!

New Hop Limited Offer
Argentine Cascade
Even with the hop shortage in full effect, we’ve been able to obtain a supply of a brand new hop (for us) this year called Argentine Cascade. Don’t be fooled! This hop bears little if any resemblance to American Cascade. It actually exhibits characteristics of certain German noble hops (namely Tettnang and Spalt), and works very well as an aroma hop. With the practical disappearance of Tettnang this year, this is a welcome addition indeed! Argentine Cascade weighs in at 3.2% alpha acid, and sells for $4.09 per ounce. It is in stock now, and orders can be placed online or by phone. Order this special, hard-to-find hop on-line.

Help Wanted
We need more full-time help at both of our locations. Details here.
