Dingemans De-bittered Black is roasted at high temperature and afterwards rapidly cooled when the desired color is achieved. As a result, this malt gives the beer a roasty aroma and dark color. At high percentages it provides a smokey/burnt flavor to stouts, porters, and other dark beers. Due to a unique production methods these roasted malts are less astringent. It contributes the same color characteristics as Black malt with a less astringent flavor.
